The area of Lake Como is rich in culinary products which you would not taste. Forget pizza and pasta and discover our specialities: there is a wide choice of tastes and flavors. Comfortably seated at a table in a restaurant and relaxing watching the landscape, you can taste some of our best foods such as: rice with perch, Missoltino, soused fish, smoked trout, chub, fried bleak and many other types of fish from our lake. Ask for a Domaso white wine as it will enhance the flavors and sensations of these specialties.

Give yourlself a round in the Valleys. It conceal hidden and ancient tastes that can be found only in the suggestive Crotti, natural caves where culinary traditions are reproduced with love and passion, such as delicious cheese, Polenta (cornmeal pudding, originally served as peasant food and consumed with meat, mushrooms, Missoltino or cheese) barley soup, cold cuts and delectable red wines.

Don’t be afraid, you will find many restaurants serving excellent pizza and great pasta.

After a good dinner you always need a good cake. Stroll with your loved ones and appreciate our stunning views delighted by Mataloch, Miascia, Cutizza and Resta, four delicious sweets, with genuine and simple ingredients like milk, raisins, flour and lemon.

Warm up with a break

During the holiday can happen a rainy day. Unfortunately when it happens, the only things to do is go to a nice bar and drink an hot chocolate as those who prepareted the mom, or if you prefer something strong and typical, like espresso or capuccino.

Well, Lake Como area is full of bars and coffee shops, pastry shops and bakeries where you can spend confortable and warm breaks, relaxing and chatting while you wait for the clear sky back.

Also within the ancient walls of Como there are a lot bars and coffee bars. Situated very close to the old center of Como, the main streets where you can enjoy tasty breaks are Via Milano and Via Giulini. Walking towards the center there are many bars in Via Mentana, Via Giovio, Via Rusconi, Piazza Vittoria, Via Diaz, Via Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza Mazzini, Via Ballarini and Via Luini. If you would like to have a relaxing break in front of Lake Como, Piazza Cavour, Lungolario Trento and Trieste and Via Borgo Vico have a remarkable offering.

The fragrance of bread and pasta will inebriate you along Via Muralto because of a historic pasta shop along that street. For a sweet and savory break, there are several bakeries and pastry shops.

Nightlife near Como

Near Lake Como, there are a lot of pubs, bars and dance clubs play contemporary music and classic hits, and restaurants serve all kinds of cuisine. People of all ages are welcome and they can enjoy themselves all night!
In Tavernerio there are restaurants, pizzerias, a dance club (Fri-Sat, 11 p.m. – 4 a.m.) and disco pubs offering live entertainment.
If you prefer to spend your evenings or nights outside, Albese con Cassano offers an outdoor space for events and festivals. The village also has numerous pizzerias, bars and a pub (Tue-Sun, 6 a.m. – 2 a.m.).
Cantù  is full of pizzerias and restaurants in the village center. There are also lounge bars, Irish-style pub and dance club (Wed-Sun 10.30 a.m. – 3 a.m.) with outside garden, perfect to drink something during the summer.
Another very beautiful village is Erba with its pubs and bars, pizzerias and restaurants, lounge bars and dance clubs (Fri-Sat, 11 p.m. – 4 a.m.).
Inverigo, a small village near the river Lambro, has an historic coffee and cocktail bar (Tue, Thu, Sun 7 a.m. -12 p.m. / Fri-Sat 7 a.m. -1 a.m. / Mon 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.; closed on Wednesday), the ideal thing for couples and groups of friends who want to relax.
More intimate and a little bit further from Lake Como, Mariano Comense and Cabiate are the industrial districts of Brianza. Mariano Comense is similar to Cantù with its wine and cocktail bars (Mon 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.; Tue-Sun 12 a.m.- 2 a.m.), pubs, restaurants and pizzerias (Mon-Sun, 12 p.m. -3 p.m. / 7 p.m. – 12 a.m.) and coffee bars, while Cabiate offers very good old-styled pubs (Tue-Sun 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.) and a refined cocktail bar situated in a unusual location (Wed-Fri 12 p.m. – 12 a.m, Sat 7 a.m. – 1.30 a.m., Sun 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.).

Not only wine and cocktail, if you are a beer fan, Lake Como has something for you.

There are many breweries and micro-breweries situated all around the lake, offering typical tastes and a unique combination of malt, hops, yeast and water.

Como has one brewery where you can taste locally brewed beer and eat something good, all while being served by kind staff.

Como’s nightlife

At night the city of Como , with its locals, bars and restaurants scattered around every corner , it becomes incredibly romantic. In the summer, the city is full of young people and couples who spend their nights in the many cafés lining the streets. There are also many events, festivals, exhibits and interesting initiatives. In the Winter, the city empties and remains much more intimate.

WALKING INSIDE THE WALLS

The walls of this romantic city mark the gateway to a whole host of bars, pubs and restaurants.  You can start the evening off  in Via Milano, one of the main streets of the city, which has a lot to offer in the way of bars, coffee, wine bars and restaurants. You can try the typical italian flavors sipping a good cocktail.
Enjoy delicious dinners in one of the restaurants of via Boldoni and Piazza Mazzini, in one of the trattorias of Via Vitani and Via Muralto or in one of the pizzerias of Piazza Duomo.
For anyone who want to stay around until late, we remind you that the city of Como is rich in pubs, lounge bars and bars which are waiting for you in Via Sant’Abbondio, Via Diaz, Via Indipendenza, Via Rusconi and Piazza Volta.

THE LAKEFRONT

The meeting point for tourists is definitely Piazza Cavour, which is also a starting point to reach the lakefront. The lakefront is the perfect place for taking a walk and spending some time in this quiet romantic location. On the Trento lakefront you can find bars and footpaths, while Trieste lakefront has breathtaking views from bars, lounge bars and restaurants.

If you arrive in via Borgovico, you will surely be surprised by the smells of focaccia bread, thanks to a bakery that is open all night long. But that is not all because there are also other pubs and restaurants.

Opening times: Generally from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Bars and pubs usually have one closing day per week. Dance club opens on Fridays and Saturdays at 9 p.m. and closes at 4 a.m.

Something different

To have fun during a raining day on Lake Como as well as the usual pub offers several others attractions.

If you love bowling in Villaguardia and Erba you find several bowling alleys, or you can have fun racing on go kart in Montano, Lucino and Como, and for the kids there is a laser tag area in Erba, there’s something for everyone!

Opening times are usually from the afternoon (2-3 p.m.) to after-midnight (12 a.m. -1 a.m.). On Saturdays, the closing time is later (about 3 a.m)
