I Missoltini, also know as misultitt in dialect, are a culinary specialty of Lake Como. The preparation is not easy, they are shad, freshwater fish that are caught, salted and dried in the sun. On Lake Como, the best season to fish for them is May. Poor people were proud of this typical meal that they alternated with herrings and obviously they could not eat them without polenta. Try them in one of the traditional restaurants on the banks of Lake Como!
